CARING FOR YOUR SADDLE
We
believe that good quality neats foot oil is good to use on
purchasing your saddle, softening and protecting the leather, although
it will tend to darken the shade. Only use a few times first
of all, use approximately once a month thereafter to weatherproof.
The
saddle should be wiped over after each use with a glycerine
saddle soap.
This will stop the build up of grease and dirt and will keep
the shine on the leather.
Use
a good quality cream regularly to protect, weather proof and
feed the leather. This will prevent the leather drying out
and cracking, it will also stop too much moisture getting
in to the leather.
If
the saddle gets wet, allow it to dry out slowly. Do not put
it next to any direct heat. When it's dry clean and feed it,
it may take several feedings to restore it to its former condition.
Good
management and care will prolong the life and strength of
the leather, for your comfort and safety.
The
saddle should wear a saddle cover when not in use as this
will keep dust off and also protect against scratches, knocks
and bumps.
Don't
place your saddle on doors, fences or gates without padding
underneath, as this will also mark and wear the gullet underneath.
Don't
place your saddle directly on to concrete or lean it against
a wall as this will wear the leather and scratch it, especially
the cantle and pommel.
